Communication and professionalization tools for artists
How do you write a statement? What role do calls for artists in the artistic trajectory? How do we use social media? What are good practices? These and other questions are answered in this workshop.
When we begin our professional career we realize that, in addition to having knowledge about the creation processes, we also need tools and resources for cataloging, communicating or promoting our work. In general, these subjects are not taught in conventional artistic training spaces.
The artist's work, before and after being exhibited or publicly communicated, goes through various phases: formalization, cataloguing, promotion, commercialization, preservation, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to understand in a broad sense what responsibilities we creative people have, what are the infrastructures and tasks of exhibition spaces, or understand the particularities of the calls to which we apply for the production of projects, awards and scholarships or residencies for artists. If we know how to navigate each of these situations, professionalization in the field of art will be easier for us.
During these sessions we will present examples, analyze cases and propose practical exercises to expand or update our resources and personal skills. The objective: to achieve a professional artistic profile and thus reach logical purposes as professional artists according to each one's career.
Methodological support will be offered in:
• Participation in artistic performance contexts.
• The organization of the work (order and catalog the artistic production).
• The construction of the professional career (the declaration of intentions, the biographical profile or resume and the visual or audiovisual dossier).
• The presentation of works or projects to calls for awards, scholarships and artistic residencies.
• Good professional practices in Art.
